I’m featured in a new book coming out in January from Lerner Publishing Group about kids changing the world. My friends Sammie’s Buddy Bench Project and Project I Am are in it too! I’m so excited that today I was featured on the Today Show with Hoda and Jenna (Maria Shriver was filling in for Jenna)! If you missed the airing, you can still see it here: https://www.today.com/video/meet-the-inspiring-10-year-old-devoted-to-recycling-71748677562 Thank you everyone who came out and helped at the beach clean up and to all my supporters of the event. See everyone at the next beach clean up! 🙂
This week I took a quick trip with my friend Mitch Hedlund from Recycle Across America and my dad to Washington DC. We had a day of pouring rain and I got to visit my friend Mason for dinner who is going to college at George Washington University. I met with a lot of Congress representatives and their staff about the importance of recycling and using standardized bin labels but my favorite part of the trip was meeting Congressman Alan Lowenthal and learning how the voting works on the house floor.
I also learned there are underground tunnels between the capitol building and the buildings where all the reps work so they can get between the buildings easily. On the flight home, I asked the flight crew to give me the plastic bottles and aluminum cans so I could recycle them instead of them going into the landfill with the trash.
The Greater Irvine Chamber hosted their 40 under 40 awards tonight and I was super proud to be recognized as a future leader. Thank you to all the people who came up to me and said hi and I’m really proud of my Congressional Recognition Certificate. How cool is that?! Thank you Jay Ware from Ware Disposal for introducing me and thank you to everyone in Orange County who supports Ryan’s Recycling.
